Environmental Impact of Oil.
Oil boilers are similar to gas boilers although their CO2 emissions are higher, see table below.
HOWEVER oil fired boilers are often more efficient; this means they do not work as hard as some gas boilers as a result they are slightly better for the environment. The easier it is for a boiler to transfer heat the less energy it uses, which in turn means fewer carbon emissions are released into the environment.
The recent development of biofuel heating oil will see CO2 emissions similar to that of natural gas, with the prospect of incentives from OFGEM to homeowners who use this new fuel, heating oil will remain a cost effective and eco friendly form of heating.
