The assessment is based on a scoring system; if a total score of 1000 points or more is accrued either a condensing or non condensing boiler can be installed. Whatever the score, the boiler does not have to be fitted in the position shown on the assessment form, which will have been chosen for “least cost” without regards for household preference. What size boiler?
All too often a ‘like for like’ (kW / BTU output) replacement boiler is installed without due consideration given to improvements made to the property structure. Boiler technology and efficiency have moved on, a “like for like” replacement can cause short cycling as heat produced by the boiler cannot dissipate efficiently.
Another consideration is that historically a 3kW allowance was made for DHW for gravity systems fed systems, that’s no longer necessary with modern heating controls.

Fuel supply
IMPORTANT: Hounsfield Boilers utilise a single pipe suction lift fuel supply system; it’s essential to keep the number of joints between the oil tank and the burner to a minimum, use pipe benders rather than fittings.
Note: One of the advantages of the ELCO burner and pump configuration we use is that, unlike a Riello burner where sometimes a deaerator like the Tigerloop is essential they are with a Hounsfield Boiler; they will of course “mask” faults with the fuel supply system, acting as a “plaster”, better to resolve the problem; deaerator’s have their own inherent problems.
OPTION: Optional oil line entry point to the rear of the casing provides neat ‘out of sight’ installation.
Oil filter kit, includes fire valve, isolation valve oil line inserts and stainless screws, included with every boiler.
Flue options
For open vented, conventional chimney systems we have a range of single wall rigid flue components combined with corrugated flexible chimney liner.
