Why Choose Heating Oil?
Considerations on Choosing Oil Heating
Ultimately your choice of heating has to suit your life style – if you have a ready supply of wood and enough storage space then that helps to reduce your carbon foot print and heating costs. If convenience is a consideration then comparison is often made to choose oil or LPG but consider these facts…
- These fuels are purchased by the litre – when comparing cost per litre, the LPG is currently 15% less than oil however the calorific value is less, ref Nov. 2012. The actual cost per kW/hr. of oil is currently 22% less, that’s a 22% saving on your annual heating costs!
- Restrictive supply source – there are many suppliers of heating oil allowing you to shop around, on the other hand with LPG you will be tied to a contract with the Company that owns the fuel tank. Notwithstanding that LPG suppliers offer incentives to the installer of up to £500 plus £0.02p per litre cash back for each LPG boiler sold.
- Life time costs – replacing components on a gas boiler can be expensive. A bespoke PCB board will be in excess of £250 – we use industry standard components, a similar component on one of our boilers would cost less than 50% of that.
